[Technical Introduction] What is Blow Molding?
Ideal for molding hollow-shaped industrial parts such as PET bottles and poly tanks!
Blow molding is a technique that involves extruding heated cylindrical resin (parison) using an extruder, clamping it in a mold, and blowing air into it to inflate it like a balloon. It is also referred to as hollow molding. With this method, various containers such as bottles and tanks, as well as automotive parts like intake ducts, air conditioning ducts, washer tanks, and reserve tanks, are produced, taking advantage of the lightweight and shape achieved through hollow molding. 【Process】 ○ Resin that has been kneaded and plasticized by a screw is stored in an accumulator (pressure accumulator) and pressurized. ○ The resin (parison) stored in the accumulator is extruded by a hydraulic ram to form a cylindrical shape. ○ The parison is clamped in a mold, and compressed air is blown in from an air pin to inflate the parison, pressing it against the inner walls of the mold, followed by cooling and solidification. ○ The air pin is removed, the mold is opened to take out the product, and post-processing such as removing burrs from areas that extend beyond the mold is performed.
